Remember those hilarious family moments when you said, ‘I wish we had recorded that’ because you didn’t have a camera or phone at hand to capture the moment? Sony hopes to alleviate that problem from our everyday lives with the introduction of the Bloggie Live handheld camcorder. Apart from getting a name that resembles young babies gibberish the Bloggie has some promising features and could satiate a market that is often left in need. Many people these days are interested in filming and editing videos but are scared off by the high pricing on cameras and camcorders, many running’s into several hundred if not thousands of dollars. On the other hand there are the disposable and super low-end video cameras that you find on cell-phones which barely piece together audio and video in the same clip. This leaves a huge gap in the market for people that want to explore their creative side to see if making videos is really one of their interests before laying down a down payment on something hugely priced. Thus, we get a $249 piece of hardware by Sony that should be the perfect companion for new bloggers and Youtube’ers alike.

The idea behind such a device is very straight forward; simplicity, ease of use, and amusement. Sony wanted a device that looked and felt as fun as it was to use. For this reason the 2012 version of the Bloggie Live has the addition of a live streaming feature where the device directly connects through local Wi-Fi to Youtube or a similar service for live streaming. This is something highly innovative, as a live streaming feature is not often seen on camcorders of this caliber. Now the other piece of the Bloggie is that it is very simple and easy to use which is definitely true. Having a USB connection built right into the side of the device, the Bloggie is always ready to sync up with your laptop on the go or your home pc. All of the software has been specifically created to include easy access to Youtube and offers some cool ways to directly upload your videos from the device. The typical features like a mini-hd port and different LED lights come standard on the device as well as an upgraded design that is much more pleasing to the eye. Lastly the quality of such a camcorder is unmatched at this price point. For $259 you get full 1080p recording so you will never have to worry about grainy or discolored video. Note that live steaming video will only go up to 320×240 due to the bandwidth heavy nature of uploading continuous video. Having some revolutionary features, upgrading an already loved device, and the moderate pricing all come together to produce one stellar camcorder by Sony that will make blogging from home that much easier.
