Today we will review a phone that attempts to blast its users into outer space with elegant looks and fast technology. The Galaxy Nexus by Verizon is one aggressive looking phone that features many new quirks that we just don’t see on a regular basis. One piece of Verizon that always seems to stick out is their desire for customer satisfaction and the way that their phones are never locked into one pre-defined settings. There’s something to be said for a fully ‘unlocked’ phone that can live up to its expectations. Let’s see if the Galaxy Nexus really has any defining features that will put it ahead of the usual smartphone group.
One of the newest features that is being demonstrated all over the world as new cutting edge technology is the use of LTE 4G data networks. Verizon is one of the larger corporations that is doing everything they can to turn this network into a selling point. Numerous advertisements have gone on television stating awesome and higher than usual Internet speeds. While these type of bogus competition claims are often baseless we have found the LTE network to be surprisingly fast. If you have been a long time data user, you will surely notice the great difference between the original networks and even the modern day 3G speeds. Apparently many great strides have been taken in this field and phones should be slowly gaining the fast data speeds of a wifi network without compromising any mobility. This is definitely one interesting feature and we will have to wait a few months to see how the LTE craze affects Verizon’s other competitors like AT&T.
When it comes to design, the Galaxy Nexus has a definitive and business look about it. On the other hand this is a touch-screen phone which seems designed towards people either attempting to multitask or just looking for a phone to play games on. Either way this is a very sleek looking phone, which almost anyone would be happy to pull out in a social event. There have been some minor cosmetic changes also over the past version of the phone. Many ergonomic yet minor problems like changing around the spacing of buttons on the exterior of the phone has been worked on, giving the user a much easier time at navigating through the menus of the phone. The final, and our favorite, feature that will discuss on the Galaxy Nexus is the outstanding battery life it provides. During testing the smart phone was shown to give between 15 to 18 hours on a single charge. Now this definitely changes depending on usage and different activated applications, but regardless a great time. Verizon has taken a sidestep in the smart phone race for technological speed and at the same time has done what we have decided was the mature next step in this game. They have effectively created a strong, businesslike, and enjoyable phone that connects to undoubtedly one of the fasted data networks around.
