It is no secret that Apple has been feverishly defending it’s claims to fame; often directly confronting a competitor in commercials. The PC vs. Mac advertisements have become almost expected and clearly demonstrate the ever-changing computer market. We have seen many great companies fail despite high expectations, and in the case of Apple, a small company be turned into an empire over many hard-working years. One of those huge competitors for Apple happens to be Samsung who has just released what seems like an affordable version of the Macbook Pro.

There are tons of great features and not to mention millions of Apple fanboys who love the design of a Macbook Pro; so some copying is to be expected. In the case of the Chronos 7, Samsung is clearly pitting their new laptop against the best of the best… let’s see if this computer can last in the ring with some of the most bought laptops. First and foremost, Samsung has played their cards extremely well when it comes to the specs. They have decided to include some of the latest and greatest technology in their laptop in the hopes that gaming or general work enthusiasts will try it out. Featured in the Chronos 7 is a quad-core Core i7-2675 QM processor which happens to be the same exact chip that is used in the 15 inch version of Macbook Pro’s. Six gigs of RAM, and a strong dedicated graphics card, the AMD Radeon HD 6750M to be specific, demonstrate Samsung’s desire to produce a top-notch piece of metal. When many people criticize Apple’s own laptops for two main problems, price and performance, Samsung has directly targeted these areas for improvement and has clearly done a fantastic job.

The Chronos 7 is designed in a minimalistic, all metal, and simplistic way… where have we seen that before? Anyway, the design is very nice and it is always nice to see another visually appealing laptop hit the market. Even though the looks of a laptop might not be at the top of a gamer or intense computer user, for the average person these types of features really matter. We are happy to note that the laptop is extremely thin and light also. Last but certainly not least we have saved what we deem the most extraordinary fact about this laptop, the price! Anyone who is interested in this laptop, or anyone with a child interested, will be ecstatic to hear that this laptop is fairly priced at $1,300. Now while many people may still scoff that this seemingly high price tag, it is extremely important to take into account a Macbook with these same specifications would cost a whopping $500 more, for an exact replica of the internals. Essentially with the introduction of Samsung’s Chronos 7 we may very well have just been able to put a price tag on the ‘Apple Logo,’ it looks like a $500 surcharge just for minor usability tweaks may be too high of a price this holiday season and we would absolutely advise our viewers to check out some of the alternatives before overpaying on a specific name brand… not to mention, the Chronos 7 is one outstanding laptop!
