HTC Rezound

PHONETASTIC!

Once or twice a year I am given the opportunity to test out a new piece of technology that will revolutionize its market. When these rare times come around I am even happier to see them occur in new and obscure ways. What I am talking about are interesting features that make a place for themselves in the market, features that set precedents or performance that is unbeatable. An example of this in past years is the front-facing camera. Up until the iPhone came out with a camera on both sides of the machine we almost never saw this feature in cell phones, but these days it is seen as a drawback to be lacking two cameras. Another one is the ability to take HD video on a phone; heck, I would have been ecstatic to have a normal video camera on my first cell phone. These days the bar is set especially high and it seems the new feature-to-beat is the HD screen. The HTC Rezound’s most fascinating feature is a full 720p HD screen. Does that not amaze you? Well think about it this way… They have been able to fit close to one million pixels on a screen that only measures five inches wide. Even better, most non-flatscreen TV’s these days don’t even have full 720p resolution so the fact that they are fitting this amount of resolution into a mobile phone is, (I apologize for this beforehand), PHONETASTIC!

Coming in a sweet $299 base price, it looks like the HTC Rezound is the phone to beat in this coming holiday season. The phone couldn’t have come at a better time as all the new middle-schoolers will start nagging their parents for the latest and greatest tech. Some other features that fit right in with the high-quality screen on this phone, is 16 gigs of storage which means you will be able to store an ample amount of music and videos, 1 gig of DDR2 RAM, and an 8 mega-pixel camera that’s capable of taking full 1080p pics. If that doesn’t do it for you, then I have saved the best for last, the phone comes packaged along with a new set of Beats by Dre Ear-buds. It looks like HTC has made a business arrangement with Dr. Dre Studios to have these two items come together as a sort of package deal. All said and done, we like the idea at least. They seem to be playing on the mobile phone and music player phenomenon that started with the iPhones and it looks like they have done a similar (or better) job than Apple’s attempt, which could be absolutely ground-breaking if they do in-fact topple the media giant from its reign over cell-phones and electronics alike.
