Sony has decided that the best approach when choosing which smartphone platform to back is not choosing at all. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is the third build which Sony has decided to attach their name to. With a completely unique user interface, great specs, and an eye full of screen, this smartphone is definitely worth taking a closer look at.

The first thing that anyone will notice about this phone is the sheer size. A mammoth 4 inch screen with 480 x 854 resolution is by far one of the largest in the market. It is powered by a 1GHz Scorpion processor and comes pre-installed with the Android 1.6 operating system. The 8MP camera has an LED flash while the video camera remains the standard 720p high def variety. The Ericsson Xperia has 1GB of internal memory with a memory slot capable of up to 32GB.

The huge display, comfortable grip, and amazing camera will all be noticed within minutes of this phone being out of the box. The construction of the phone feels amazingly sturdy, even covered almost entirely in thin plastic. The huge display and pixel-heavy camera makes this one of the most desirable phones for anyone who uses the phone to snap away pictures daily.

The unique user interface, or UI, is what really takes some getting use to for most. This is more of a preference issue, but any Droid users who switch over to the Xperia X10 may be in for a few days of frustration when trying to flip through various screens and apps and there appears to be an input hesitation with multiple apps open. Overall, this phone has some great features, namely the screen and camera, that should open up a decent niche market for it. For any other uses, it may be best keep looking.
