Alright, so I’ll be the first to admit that electronic cigarettes are a little out of the scope of what we usually write about here. The truth is, though… I smoke a lot. I also have a lot of computer and audio equipment, and other various gadgetry. I do worry that smoking regular cigarettes inside will just destroy all this equipment over time. So what’s a smoker to do? Not all of us are ready to quit… yet.
I have been hearing all sorts of things about electronic cigarettes lately, but unless you’ve seen or tried them personally, or had a good friend tell you about them, it’s hard to imagine. So we decided to review the SmokeStik electronic cigarettes and see what the deal was. The first thing I noticed when the package came in the mail is that it seemed like a lot of parts. It was a little intimidating. But once you have it all in front of you it makes perfect sense. There is a charger, the cigarette itself, and the cartridge which contains the smokable-substance. They also have a car adapter which is incredibly convenient if you’re on the road.
Charging the device was as simple as gently screwing it into the charger and letting it sit for a few hours until a nice LED lit up to notify us that it was done charging – and then we just had to screw in one of the cartridges to see what it was like. One of the several nice things about this particular electronic cigarette is that there are no buttons. It is smart enough to do whatever-it-does when you inhale through it. The company offers a pretty wide variety of cartridges and flavors – even menthol. Some are even without nicotine which may be nice for the folks trying to quit smoking, but still need the comfort of inhaling something.
The smoke-like-vapor the device emits as you inhale is convincing enough for me. It’s not nearly as thick as conventional cigarette smoke, but that’s not such a bad thing at all. As a seasoned smoker, I can at least say that it is quite pleasant after a big meal. Plus the prospect of being able to smoke inside or on an airplane and things like this, is pretty nice. All in all I was quite impressed with the Smokestik and would say it’s worth checking out if you’re a smoker, or even thinking about quitting smoking.
