I've been using Sony NEX-5 camera for more than a month now. The reasons why I opted to buy the NEX-5 over the other DSLR are the size,weight and the price. For a beginnner in photography like me, it's perfect choice the fact that it has less buttons and it will not scare me from using it. I am small person, just around 5'5" and taking this NEX-5 camera to remote locations for nature photography is a big advantage. I can easily squeeze myself along with my NEX-5 camera on tight corners near rocks, caves, branch of a tree and bushes to take pictures that I want. Just recently, I went to take photos at the white beaches of Boracay Island. I run across the Island to find best spots to take photos. The compact design and lightweight is a big advantage if you like to take pictures while your on the run. Taking photos near a beach can be tricky most especially during conditions where a strong wind is present and nothing to hold on to except the camera. NEX-5 again is very much fun on hand in situations like that and so much more if you've forgot to bring a tripod. For a novice in photography, I really enjoyed using it and satisfied with the quality of photos it can take. The user friendly buttons easily takes me from settings to taking pictures that if you've familiarized yourself about the camera's features. The battery can last taking more than 300 photos. But that may vary how often I viewed the pictures and how I use the flash intensity. The intelligent auto mode is good enough, but if you've like to take vivid colors like red,green,blue and magenta then it shouldn't be a problem. Generally, it's far better than our previous camera a sony w90 which we've bought few years ago at almost similar price.
